Modern Slavery Act Statement 2018

Introduction

Call Assist Ltd is committed to implementing and enforcing effective systems to combat modern slavery and human trafficking and to conduct all aspects of its business in an honest and ethical manner at all times.

Call Assist Ltd therefore has a zero tolerance approach towards modern slavery and human trafficking, it is committed to acting fairly and with integrity in all of its business dealings and relationships, by implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery and human trafficking is not taking place anywhere in its business or in any of its supply chains.

We expect the same high standards from all of our contractors, suppliers and other business partners, and as part of our contracting and ongoing monitoring process we have amended our Due Diligence Questionnaire to include questions requiring documented evidence relating to the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and Anti Slavery and Human Trafficking. Our Terms of the Business Agreements require our suppliers to comply with all applicable laws and regulations. We expect and request our suppliers to hold their own suppliers to the same high standards.

Company’s Structure

Call Assist Ltd is a vehicle rescue company, providing services to its customers via a contractor network.

Call Assist Ltd was incorporated on 16 November 1998 with the registered office located in the UK. Call Assist Ltd is owned by Call Assist Holdings Limited which is also registered in the UK.

This statement applies to all applicable companies in the Call Assist Group (for the purposes of this statement, “Call Assist Group” means Call Assist Ltd and any company or entity which Call Assist Ltd own more than 15% of the issued share capital. Companies in the Call Assist Group shall include, without limitation, Call Assist Ltd, Call Assist Holdings Limited, startrescue.co.uk and any other company that is incorporated within the Call Assist Group at any time in the future).

Business

At Call Assist Ltd we focus our expertise in assisting our customers ‘at the event’ when they have experienced a vehicle breakdown, or their vehicle has been involved in an accident. Call Assist Ltd provides a white labelled service and is the name behind many household brands, as well as the service provider for insurer, broker, warranty and intermediary schemes.

Supply Chains

Call Assist Ltd provides the service through a network of Recovery Operators throughout the UK and an additional network in Europe, providing assistance in over 40 countries. We also use routine services for the maintenance and support of our office operations. We do not act as a producer, manufacturer or retailer of physical goods and have no supply chain in relation to such activities.

Policies in relation to Slavery and Human Trafficking

Call Assist Ltd is committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in its supply chains or in any part of its business. We have adapted our policies and procedures, including but not limited to recruitment and supplier management to ensure that reasonable steps are taken to detect, report and prevent modern slavery and human trafficking taking place.

Our Anti Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy was published internally in 2017 and reflects our commitment to acting ethically, transparently and with integrity in all our business relationships.

Our Whistleblowing Policy makes part of our Staff Handbook and ensures that all members of staff are aware that they can raise any concerns about the treatment of their colleagues and/or unethical or suspicious practices within our business or supply chain, without fear and in confidence.

Due diligence processes for slavery and human trafficking

As part of our initiative to identify and mitigate risk of modern slavery and human trafficking, we:

  • continue our work on identifying potential risk areas in our supply chains;
  • continue our work on identifying suppliers which have a higher risk of being affected by modern slavery and human trafficking;
  • continue working on having higher monitoring standards for higher risk suppliers; and
  • maintain our approach to zero hours contracts of employment, meaning that such contracts of employment are not being agreed unless expressly requested by the employee and only where reasonable justification is provided.

Training

To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our business, training on modern slavery and human trafficking makes part of our introductory training programme and is provided to all members of staff.

Approval of this statement

This statement is made pursuant to section 54 (1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 30 April 2018.

This statement has been approved by the Board of Directors.
